Soldering tips fit by series, not by brand: a Hakko FX-888DX takes T18 tips, a Weller WE1010 takes ET tips, a JBC T245 handle takes C245 cartridges, and the Pinecil and TS101 take TS100-style tips. Find your iron or handpiece model in the table below, buy tips in the matching series, and check the exact part number on the maker’s page before you order, because some series have model-specific variants.

Check your exact model. This chart lists what each maker publishes. Handpiece model matters more than station model: many stations accept several handpieces, and each handpiece takes its own tip series. Every row links to the maker or, where noted, a retailer listing.

Notes by maker

Hakko

Hakko USA’s tip menu names the handpieces for each series, and the FX-888DX page adds the station side. The key point for FX-888 family owners: the station works with several handpieces, and the tip depends on which handpiece you plug in.

  • The standard FX-8801 iron uses T18 tips and ships with a T18-D16 chisel. Hakko lists it for the FX-888, FX-888D, FX-889 and FX-888DX.
  • The FX-8805 large iron uses T19 tips and ships with a T19-D32. Hakko lists it for the FX-889, FX-888D and FX-888DX.
  • The FX-8806 95 W iron uses the newer T32 tips. Hakko says it is designed exclusively for the FX-888DX.

For the FX-951 and the FM-20x stations, Hakko USA lists T15 tips for the FM-2027 handpiece, and says the FM-2027 can be used on the FM-206, FM-205, FM-204, FM-203, FM-202, FP-102 and FX-951.

Weller

Weller lists its ET tips for the WE1010, WE1010EDU, WES51/50, WESD51 and LR21 stations. One catch: Weller’s WE1010NA page notes that for the WEP 70 iron, some ET part numbers must be the “L” versions (it names 4ETHL, 4ETKL, 4EKOL and 4ETSL in place of 4ETH, 4ETK, 4ETO and 4ETS). If you own a WE1010, match the exact part number Weller lists for the WEP 70.

JBC

JBC sells cartridges (tip and heater in one unit) by handle family:

  • C245 for general soldering and high-power jobs such as ground planes, on T245 handles. JBC also sells C245E cartridges with reinforced tip protection for longer life, at a small cost in thermal efficiency.
  • C210 for precision work with medium power, on T210, B.100 and B.500 handles.
  • C115 for very small components under a microscope, on nano handles and tweezers. JBC says C105 cartridges are being discontinued and replaced by C115, and that existing NANE/NASE owners need extra steps to use C115.

Pinecil and TS101

The Pine64 wiki says the Pinecil is “compatible with other TS100 tips.” Pine64 also makes its own short tips (6.2 Ω) and standard tips (8 Ω); the V2 ships with an ST-B2 short tip and detects the tip type automatically. Per the wiki, the short tips allow up to 64 W on a 20 V USB-C PD supply, versus 50 W with the 8 Ω standard tips.

The TS101’s retail listing says it accepts TS100 replacement tips and ships with a B2 tip. We could not confirm from a maker page whether Pine64’s short tips are supported on the TS101, so check before buying. See Pinecil vs TS101 for a full comparison.

How to choose a tip shape

Tip series decides fit; tip shape decides how heat reaches the joint. Hakko’s T18 range, for example, includes bevel, chisel, conical, knife, needle and SMD shapes. As a general starting point, many people use a small chisel or bevel for through-hole joints and a fine conical or needle tip for small SMD pads. For more on irons, see best soldering iron and how to solder through-hole parts.

FAQ

Do Hakko FX-888D tips fit the FX-888DX? Yes, if you use the same FX-8801 iron. Hakko lists the FX-8801 with T18 tips for both stations.

Can I use TS100 tips on a Pinecil? Yes. The Pine64 wiki states the Pinecil is compatible with TS100 tips.

Do Weller ET tips fit the WE1010? Yes, Weller lists ET tips for the WE1010. For its WEP 70 iron, Weller names specific “L” part numbers for some tips, so match the exact part.

Are JBC C245 and C210 cartridges interchangeable? No. JBC lists C245 for T245 handles and C210 for T210, B.100 and B.500 handles.

Are third-party tips safe to use? This chart covers what makers publish. Third-party tips are outside its scope; if you buy them, confirm the stated series and part number match your iron.
