Every comparison and “best” page on this site follows the same method, so you can judge how much weight to give it.
- Specifications come from the manufacturer. Display counts, accuracy, true-RMS, CAT safety ratings, bandwidth, sample rate, wattage, temperature range and tip systems are taken from the maker’s own product pages, manuals and datasheets, and linked.
- Safety ratings are stated as published. A meter’s CAT rating is what its maker and certification mark claim. We note when a listing does not show a recognized certification mark.
- Prices are a snapshot. We note the month a price was checked. Prices change; the retailer’s page is the truth.
- Owner experience is summarised, not invented. Strengths and common problems come from makers’ support documentation and patterns repeated across owner communities. We never present someone else’s experience as our own testing.
- We say what we have not done. Unless a page shows our own measurements and photos, we have not tested that tool ourselves, and the page says so.
- No paid placements. No brand pays to be included or ranked.
